Inventory.

When I start the new year, I always have an inventory of the paintings still available from the previous series and I update the catalogue. I go through all the works, the images, I recap and in the process I often wonder - where does it all come from? where does this energy, this instinctive thing I have for painting lodges itself?
I enjoy working in a very structured and clean manner. I like to have everything at hand, in its place, so I don’t waste time in searching for things. That way, the practical will no longer interfere and I can solely focus on painting. When starting, I have a clear image of where I want to go but then it evolves. Some sort of alignment happens, it falls into place and I like to think of the heart as the conductor of it all. Thats where it is lodged. In the heart.
